Mestrei essa aventura em 2008, quando estava tentando emplacar uma campanha baseada na série de TV Supernatural. É voltada pra jogos de investigação do sobrenatural. Seguem as principais informações para você adaptar pro seu sistema de preferência (usei o Unisystem clássico, do WitchCraft).
Fogos da Vingança
Os PCs vão pra Penaúma, uma pequena cidade em Mato Grosso, onde houve várias aparições de um boitatá. Duas semanas antes dos PCs chegarem, o monstro incendiou a igreja local, matando o padre Filinto; Maria Amélia, a filha do farmacêutico; e o seu noivo fiancé André Camacho. O boitatá ressurgiu mais de uma vez e atacou uma das cinco grandes fazendas ao redor de Penaúma, matando os fazendeiros. O primeiro ataque foi cinco dias depois do incêndio da igreja, o segundo quatro dias depois do primeiro; o terceiro três dias depois deste, e o quarto na noite anterior à chegada dos PCs.
Ao investigar o incêndio da igreja, os PCs descobrem que testemunhas escutaram uma briga lá dentro tarde da noite, seguida do som de um tiro. Foi então que o incêndio começou. Os locais dizem aos PCs que Maria Amélia estava na igreja, porque ajudava o padre Filinto com os afazeres, mas alguns insinuam que eles tinham um caso. Seria por isso que o noivo estava lá também – teria ido pra confrontá-lo e pegou os dois no ato, o que levou à discussão e o tiro. Um dos locais, o Velho Ramiro, diz com todas as letras que o monstro não é um boitatá e, sim, uma mula sem cabeça: Maria Amélia, que foi amaldiçoada por se deitar com um padre. Se os PCs investigarem os destroços da igreja, encontrarão embaixo do assoalho que sobreviveu os restos derretidos de uma placa de ouro com dois símbolos enoquianos ainda visíveis.
A investigação dos incêndios nas fazenda revela apenas destroços queimados. Estranhamente, a quantidade de destruição aumentou a cada novo ataque. No quarto, a devastação foi completa: pessoas, estruturas, plantações, animais, tudo virou cinzas. Parece pessoal. Ao visitar o último fazendeiro, o coronel Adalberto Siqueira, os PCs percebem vários símbolos místicos de proteção gravados em locais menos frequentados da casa. Se algum deles checar a biblioteca do coronel, encontrará livros de ocultismo sobre conjuração e enoquiano. Adalberto está obviamente nervoso, mas não revela nada.
Outra linha de investigação leva os PCs ao quilombo que fica próximo a Penaúma. Lá, os PCs encontram Maria Amélia ainda viva. Ela escapou do incêndio, mas está muito queimada. Delirante por causa da dor e em choque, ela vagou pela noite até ser encontrada pelos quilombolas, que a ajudaram a se recuperar. Ela confirma que era apaixonada por Filinto, mas diz que ele nunca correspondeu (logo, não deve ser uma mula sem cabeça). Infelizmente, André não acreditou neles e atirou no padre. Maria Amélia tentou ajudar Filinto, mas ele sangrou até a morte no chão da igreja. Instantes depois, quando Maria Amélia só conseguia ver o cano da arma de seu noivo apontado para a sua cabeça, o fogo surgiu do chão, matando André e destruindo a igreja.
O que aconteceu?
Cerca de 40 anos antes, Adalberto e os outros fazendeiros realizaram um ritual para conjurar Anauel, o Anjo da Prosperidade. Eles, entnao, o aprisionaram para poderem usar seu poderes para garantir que sempre tivessem boa sorte. A placa de ouro era a tranca da prisão. Eles a enterraram no local onde estava construindo a nova igreja para a cidade. Se os PCs olharem um mapa da região, verão que a igreja fica exatamente no meio d eum pentagrama formado pelas casas grandes das cinco propriedades.
Só que André matou Filinto, e o sangue do padre escorreu pelas frestas entra as tábuas do assoalho, encharcou o solo e chegou na placa, quebrando o selo. Liberto, Anauel começo uma onda de retaliação. Ele ainda estava fraco e, por isso, precisou dos os períodos cada vez menores de descanso. Agora, ele finalmente voltou ao seu nível de poder originale atacará Adalberto na próxima noite para completar sua vingança. Só então ele poderá voltar para o céu.
I ran this adventure in 2008, when I was trying to get a Supernatural game going. It’s geared towards supernatural investigation games. It’s also set in Brazil, but can be easily adapted to other countries. This is juts the plot, so you can adapt to your system of choice (I used classic Unisystem, a spresente din WitchCraft).
Fires of Retribution
PCs go to Penaúma, a small town in Mato Grosso state, where there has been several sightings of a boitatá (flaming, invisible giant snake; you only see the fiery eyes). Two weeks before the PCs arrive in town, the monster burned the local church down, killing priest Filinto; Maria Amélia, the daughter of the local pharmacist; and her fiancé André Camacho. The first attack took place five days after the church fire, the second was four days after the first, the third three days after that, and the fourth ocurred on teh night before the PCs arrive.
Investigating the church fire reveals there was an argurment late at night inside the church, followed by a gun shot. That’s when the fire started. The locals will tell the PCs Maria Amélia was in the church, because she helped priest Filinto with the chores, but some will insinuate they were having an affair. That’s why her fiancé was there as well. He went to confront them and caught the two in the act, which led to the argument and the gun shot. One local, Velho Ramiro, will flat out state that the monster isn’t a boitatá, but a headless mule (supernatural creature that breathes fire and induces fear; may be a woman who had sexual relations with a priest). If the PCs search the church’s site, they find under the surviving floor boards the melted remains of a gold plate. A couple of Enochian sigils are still visible on it.
Investigating the farm fires reveals only charred remains. Oddly, the amount of destruction increased with every attack. By the fourth fire, the destruction was complete: people, structures, crops, animals, everything was reduced to ashes. Seems kinda personal. Visiting the last landowner, colonel Adalberto Siqueira, the PCs notice several protective arcane symbols carved on out-of-the-way places around the house. If someone checks his library, they will find a few occult books, mainly dealing with summoning and Enochian. Adalberto is obviousy nervous, but remains tightlipped about the whole affair.
Another line of investigation will take the PCs to the quilombo (community founded by enslaved Africans that escaped their captors) close ot Penaúma. There they find Maria Amelia still alive. She escaped the fire, but is badly burned. Delirious with pain and still in shock, she wandered into the night and was found by the quilombolas, who helped her recuperate. She confirms she had feelings for Filinto, but he never reciprocated (so no headless mule). Unfortunately, André didn’t believe them and shot Filinto. She tried to help him, but he bled to death on the church floor. A few moments later, when she was staring down the barrel of André’s gun, fire erupted from the ground, killing her fiancé and destroying the church.
What really happened?
Around 40 years ago, Adalberto and the other landowners performed a ritual to summon Anauel, the Angel of Prosperity. Then, proceeded to trap him so that they could use his powers to ensure their good fortuune. The gold plate was the lock of the prison. They buried it beneath the site of the new church they were building for the town. If the PCs look at a map of the area, the church sits smack dab in the middle of a pentagram formed by connecting the main house of each of the five properties.
But then André killed Filinto, and the priest’s blood seeped through the cracks between the floorborads, soaked into the ground and found the plate, breaking the seal. Freed, Anauel went on a revenge spree. He was still weak, though. And so needed the ever-decreasing period sof rest to recover his energy. He’s finally back at full power and will attack Adalberto at night to complete his vengeance. Then, he can finally return to Heaven.
